Scientific Writing
Scientific writing differs from the typical writing done in English classes. The style, structure and purpose is different, so the approach to writing must be different. Scientific writing can include review papers, research papers (reporting original research), lab reports (similar to research papers), or posters. Use the resources on this page to guide you in constructing a good scientific paper.
University of Arizona compiled a booklet of guidelines for scientific writing. It primarily focuses on research papers and lab reports, but it also includes information pertaining to scientific writing style such as word usage and active vs. passive voice.
