Amanda joined the Academic Support Center team in January of 2018 after working for the Department of Children and Families for three years. Amanda overcame many obstacles, grew professionally, and felt fortunate to be in a position that allowed her to aid individuals in the community. Amanda worked full time while she attended Indian River State College, graduating with an AA Degree in Human Services.
Currently, Amanda is earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration at Indian River State College, and as a student, Amanda understands the challenges that students face in both their academic and personal lives. That is why Amanda feels privileged to be a part of the ASC team, helping students receive the resources they need to achieve their academic and life goals and dreams. When Amanda is not at work or busy with her studies, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. |
Staff
If you visit the Academic Support Center (ASC), you might encounter Jason as one of the contact persons for the After School program, or you might meet him when he visits classrooms and information sessions to tell students about the ASC services.
Jason received his Associate of Arts degree from IRSC in 1996 and his Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Florida in 1998. After graduation, Jason was employed by Thompson Publishing and Prometric Testing, but his appreciation for the quality and commitment of the staff at IRSC brought him back as an employee. Currently, as the ASC Learning Facilitator he provides support for and information about a variety of services offered by the ASC. He has sought to apply lessons from his academic studies to support those who are pursuing education as a means of furthering their own personal and career goals. On his own time, Jason loves nothing better than spending time with his wife while delighting in the balmy Treasure Coast weather. |
Thomas Lewis was born and raised in Fort Pierce, Florida. Thomas is an Indian River State College graduate. While at IRSC, Thomas was selected and received the Baccalaureate Achievement Award after graduating with a 4.0 GPA and demonstrating many hours of volunteer public service.
Upon graduation, Thomas went on to obtain his Florida State Educator Certifications for mathematics and social studies, grades 6-12, and taught at Saint Lucie West K-8 for three years. Thomas joined the Academic Support Center in the fall semester of 2018. Thomas lives in Fort Pierce, and his interests include fishing, playing team softball, and watching professional baseball. |
Sherise serves as the liaison between the Academic Support Center and Enrollment & Student Services.
Sherise was privileged to join the Indian River State College Instructional Advisement team in 2013. Prior to that, she was a middle school guidance counselor. She received her bachelor's degree from the State University of New York in Albany and her master's in guidance and counseling from Sage Graduate School in Troy, New York. Sherise has worked in the field of education in various capacities for the past fifteen years. Her entire career has been devoted to guiding students toward their goals of achieving academic and personal success. She believes that all students have the ability to tap into their full potential to realize their dreams and enjoys being a part of that process. As a counselor, Sherise is here to support students on their academic journey. Students are encouraged to contact her for assistance. |
